Board Member Opportunities

make an impact

A non-profit is as strong as its members on the Board

High Point, NC

To support and serve the family of Heart Warriors by providing comfort, community, counseling, and resources to families involved in the medical care their child needs.

We believe in giving you space to create and operate in your gifts, talents, and purpose.  We all have something to contribute and what better way to do so in  the lives of our very own community.

Every day we get to make an impact by supporting families in life-changing decisions and easing the worry of everyday life. We are a vital factor in saving the lives of the supermen and superwomen that tend to the bedside of heart warriors. Each parent can be present physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually with our help and resources.

  1. Passion for and is invested in the Cause.  This person is someone who can grow with our organization.  Not only are they able, but most importantly available.
  2. Excellent communication skills.  Our team members can articulate our mission effectively whether they speak to a donor or their next-door neighbor. They can sell our mission, both in-person and in writing.
  3. Humility.  Our team members are often asked to wear several hats in this field, so s/he must be willing to roll up their sleeves and offer an extra pair of hands. No task is too big or too small.
  4. Self-motivation and is resourcefulness.  Our ideal team member takes the initiative.  They can help drive and support our organization’s success. This team member has the skills and know-how to make things happen through their resources. S/he can attend networking events or join groups to meet potential donors or partners. They would also be resourceful enough to think of solutions and put them into action.
  5. A flexible perspective to switch gears.  We may often have to pivot our plans, whether it’s because funding gets cut, an unexpected event occurs, or our focus may change to respond to a current event. Our team members can also keep up with the new ways donors want to engage with organizations and are open to rolling with the times and innovating new strategies to reach supporters.

We currently have 2 members and hope to grow to 7

On the last Tuesday of the month via zoom at 7pm.

Two (2) hours for Board meetings each month and be willing to attend a minimum of four events per year.

Each board member is expected to pay $40/month or one payment of $480/year to maintain active board member status.  All funds will contribute to feed, clothe, and cover the 500 families we seek to support.

are you a perfect fit?

Duty to care

Members should be committed to following through on promises and assisting the organization to the best of their abilities.

This means:

  • Attending meetings and actively participating in committees
  • Communicating with the executive director and other board members
  • Following through on assignments
  • Supporting program initiatives

Duty of Loyalty

Members should fully support and embody your organization’s mission and be loyal ambassadors for the organization's cause.

All activities and decisions should be in the best interest of the organization, not in the best interest of the individual board member.

Those who successfully fulfill this duty are those who proactively mingle with volunteers, visit your nonprofit’s facilities, and participate in community initiatives. These individuals fully embrace your mission, not just board service.

Duty of Obedience

Members are empowered to do everything in their power to reach organizational goals, but should still follow the organization’s guidelines.

Every board member will be presented the governance rules of Led From the Heart.  It’s the members responsibility to ensure they obey applicable laws and regulations. We encourage existing board members to refresh themselves on the guidelines at least once a year, ensuring they understand exactly what they can (and can’t) do.
