Compassionate Care Is What We Provide

When James and his wife Jessica learned their daughter Justice would be born with a severe congenital heart defect – Tetralogy of Fallot – the emotional toll of the possible challenges and decisions they would have to face presented hurdles.

Like many parents, they were committed to giving their child the best chance at life, providing her access to the finest doctors and treatment and prevention technology.

Justice was born in August 2021, and like many TOF babies, she had temporary repair options but would face open-heart surgery in her first year of life. Justice underwent her first heart catheterization a week after being born. This unsuccessful procedure left Justice with a punctured heart, sedated, ventilated, a blood clot, and an NG Tube. A week later, a full-repair surgery was successfully performed at two weeks of age.

While at the hospital, the Ledbetter family discovered the need and benefit of having a place to rest and financial assistance to handle everyday expenses while remaining at their daughter’s bedside.

As a result of the Ledbetter Family’s experience, they established Led From The Heart. The initiative serves families with children with congenital heart conditions who have gone through similar experiences navigating healthcare needs.
